Prisidio is committed to protecting the sensitive information stored in your digital vault. To strengthen security, identity verification is required when someone accepts an invitation to join a vault as a Co-Owner or Keyholder.
Why Identity Verification Is Required
When a Vault Owner invites someone to become a Co-Owner or Keyholder, that person may gain access to important or sensitive information. Identity verification helps ensure that access is granted only to the intended individual.
This process helps:
Confirm the identity of the person accepting the invitation
Prevent unauthorized access caused by incorrect or compromised email addresses
Reduce the risk of identity fraud or impersonation
Provide Vault Owners confidence that they are sharing access with the correct person
When Verification Happens
Identity verification occurs when the invited person accepts the invitation to become a Co-Owner or Keyholder.
The process differs slightly depending on whether the invited person already has a Prisidio account.
If the invited person does NOT yet have a Prisidio account:
They will receive an invitation email. After clicking the link in the email, they will be guided through creating a Prisidio account. Once logged in, they will access the Vault Owner’s vault and accept the Co-Owner or Keyholder invitation. Identity verification occurs during the invitation acceptance process before access to the vault is granted.
If the invited person already has a Prisidio account:
They will receive an invitation email. After clicking the link in the email, they will be prompted to log in to their existing Prisidio account. Once logged in, they will access the Vault Owner’s vault and accept the Co-Owner or Keyholder invitation. Identity verification occurs during the invitation acceptance process before access to the vault is granted.
How the Verification Process Works?
When a user accepts a Co-Owner or Keyholder invitation, they will be guided through identity verification with CLEAR. This process confirms the identity of the person accepting the invitation.
If This Is Your First Time Using CLEAR
If you have not previously verified your identity with CLEAR, you will complete the full identity verification process.
When using CLEAR for identity verification, make sure your browser allows pop-ups. Pop-up blockers can prevent the verification window from opening properly and may interrupt the process.
Start verification
After clicking Accept Invite, you will see a message explaining that identity verification is required. Select Verify to Accept to begin the verification process.
Enter your mobile phone number
You will be redirected to CLEAR and asked to enter a valid U.S. mobile phone number, then select Get Started.
Review verification consent
CLEAR will explain what personal information may be collected and shared with Prisidio, such as your phone number, email address, government ID, and verification results. Select Accept & Continue to proceed.
Confirm your email address
You will be asked to confirm your email address and agree to CLEAR’s member terms before continuing.
Continue verification on your phone
CLEAR will prompt you to complete the remaining steps on a mobile phone with a camera.
You can either:
Scan a QR code, or
Receive a link via text message
6. Complete identity verification
On your phone, CLEAR will guide you through the remaining steps, which may include:
Entering a one-time verification code
Taking a selfie
Scanning a government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license or passport)
7. Return to Prisidio
Once verification is successful, you will automatically be redirected back to Prisidio to finish accepting the Co-Owner or Keyholder invitation.
If You Have Previously Verified with CLEAR
If you have already verified your identity with CLEAR, the process may be shorter because CLEAR can use information associated with your existing CLEAR profile.
You will still begin by clicking Accept Invite and selecting Verify to Accept, but CLEAR may skip some steps if your identity has already been verified.
Once CLEAR confirms your identity, you will be redirected back to Prisidio to complete the invitation acceptance.
What Happens After Verification
Once identity verification with CLEAR is successfully completed, the user can go back to Prisidio and refresh their screen.
From there:
Co-Owners
Can view all items stored in the vault
Can take actions that the Vault Owner can take
Keyholders
Can only access items that the Vault Owner has specifically shared with them
Can only perform actions based on the permissions assigned to them (add/edit/delete)
If verification cannot be completed successfully, the invitation cannot be accepted and the user will not be granted access to the vault.
